Isabelle Mercier is an internationally recognized professional poker player, born in Victoriaville, Quebec, Isabelle started playing poker as a child. She has an undergraduate law degree from the Université de Montréal,after which she practiced commercial law for 6 months. Then she moved to Paris to get her masters degree where she also worked as a poker room manager at the Aviation Club de France (part-time) before taking up poker as a career. While working in Aviation Club de France, she was twice nominated as the Staff person of the Year at the European Poker Awards.
Isabelle shot to fame for the first time after she stood second in the €800No Limit hold ‘em tournament at the Masters Classic of Poker 2002 in Amsterdam. Later, in 2004, she won the World Poker Tour (WPT) Ladies’ Night tournament and won $25,000 first prize. She was nicknamed “NO MERCY” and from that point there was no looking back for her. In 2005, she took part in the European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Final in Monte Carlo and came tenth earning €23,090. She managed to defeat several world class poker players.
She made her first EPT final table in February 2006 in Deauville, finishing seventh at a final table also featuring Ram Vaswani and Kirill Gerasimov. In January 2008, she released her own biography called Profession: bluffeuse (Profession: Bluffer). She also appeared in the documentary “That’s poker”. Until 2009, she was a member of the Poker Stars online poker card room "Team PokerStars" group of sponsored players. Mercier’s total live tournament winnings exceeded $800,000 as of 2009.
Due to her aggressive type of game plan she got the nickname: NO MERCY. One of the recent news about her was on July 12, 2009. She finished 3rd in the “POKERSTARS” Sunday millions, cashing for $115000, her second highest cash till date. Currently she is not associated with “poker stars” anymore.
